How To Do Crochet Faux Locs without Cornrows

There are different methods that can be used for crochet. You can decide to braid the base of your hair into a cornrow or for a more natural look, you can use the individual install methodIn this post, we will look at simple ways to crochet your hair without cornrows.

  • Wash, clean and moisturize hair and scalp.
  • Section your hair and braid individual box braids on your head using your own hair.
  • After you are done braiding your hair, take a piece of the Nubia’s crown crochet braids which is already pre looped and further open up the loop using fingers.
  • Take your crochet needle, put it underneath your hair, through the roots and make sure you do this with your latch opened.
  • Put the loop of the crochet hair on the needle and close the latch.
  • Pull the crochet needle through your hair. This will give you two sides of the hair.
  • Open the loop on the short side with fingers and pull the longer length of  the hair through the loop and pull hair.
  • Unravel the crochet piece bit by bit and wrap it around your natural hair. With each wrap overlapping the previous wrap. Do this till the end of your natural hair is fully covered.
  • Repeat the process all around your head.
  • When installing the braids along your hairline, try as much as possible not to install the extension too close to your hairline. This helps you achieve the most natural look.
  • Style the edge of your hair using a gel (optional)
  • Once you are done installing, you’re good to go! A low-maintenance but flawless look.
